I’m interested in games, doesn’t mean I realistically expect to play them much.
I’ve got a number of dirt cheap games, or at least which become dirt cheap in every major sale, on my list. Various sub-$1 puzzle games, actions games, shooters, whatever. These are the little throwaway titles that I used to just lump into bigger holiday purchases a few years ago (with the attitude that they were so cheap it didn’t matter), but now I try to avoid buying any games that I do not plan to play immediately. And I know that realistically I’m not going to immediately play five cheap puzzle games.
I’ve pruned that section some in the last few months, but right now there are 17 games on my list on sale for under $1. Another 22 games are between $1 and $2. (A bigger event sale will see more titles fall into these ranges.)
I’ve got three f2p games wishlisted just so that I don’t forget that they exist. Games I’m not interested in trying at the moment, but may eventually want to try. I promptly forget about them though because they are never “on sale” and thus never get through my sale filter. (This part worked better back when I had a reasonable sized list.)
I have 42 games that are not available for purchase. These are mostly games that have been announced, but have yet to be released. Some have been sitting on my wishlist for years. Some had private releases (kickstarters, betas, whatever), but have yet to see an official “this is now for sale” release. Honestly, some may have been abandoned. Looking at them, I see I can reduce this to 41 games, because one of them was instead pulled from sale.
I have a number of games that still sit at full price, which I may not seriously consider buying until the summer or even the next winter sale. A great number of games have discounts at the moment, but the discount just isn’t enough. Honestly, it likely never will be enough for most of those games, but I don’t know that.
I have one game sitting there for the promise of an eventual English translation. At which point I’ll probably remove it from the list, because by the time it finally happens I will have lost interest in playing it.
And some number truly sit there just so that I do not forget that they exist. Though sometimes I’m not sure why I want to remember them.
