I wasn’t expecting Shadow and Bone to pop out so soon!
I haven’t even started on that Six of Crows audio book yet! I kinda want to ‘read’ that first.
First Episode of The Flight Attendant was fun …-ish. Love the retro intro and the use of split screen… isn’t that kinda like Catch Me If You Can? (it’s a long time since I watched that).
Kaley does a good …ish job as the main character, though the role is a lot closer to Penny in many respects. I keep wanting her to go “Oh fuck it!” and break out a baseball bat and beat the crap out of everyone
I’m not sure on the amount of crazy hallucinations, I could see that getting wearing.
I planned to watch episode two, but then I got sidetracked by (and I blame you guys entirely for this!!!) episode one of
The first 5 minutes or so weren’t looking good. The sets looked a bit low budget and the acting felt a bit stilted (like everyone was waiting for half a second before starting acting).
But after that I got surprisingly into it and enjoyed it. As soon a Londo an G’Kar started getting angry with each other it took off and either the acting got better and the sets got less low-budget, or I just stopped noticing.
I wasn’t watching in HD or anything, but the CGi actually looked better than I was expecting and I didn’t really find it jarring at all. I think that as long as they stuck to their strengths (space, ships, asteroids and stations) it all looked good.
More interesting was how ‘slo-mo’ the way the Starfuries moved, relative to something hyper-kinetic like Battlestar Galactica.
It wasn’t the remaster, and now I’m wondering if seeing the sets and uniforms in high-res might actually work against it by revealing more of the seams.
I’d forgotten how epic the theme tune was. Actually, I’d forgotten many many things about it, including the general vibe. The whole episode was basically me going “Oh! I’d forgotten about him/her/that/those!”
