Yeah. It felt more, static?
The pace was slower, the music was more suspenseful than dramatic, and there was a lot less motion. There was the one action scene at the end, but even that was mostly slow movement and built up tension.
The way it was edited meant that they tended to cut from one location to another, rather than racing there.
Being used mainly to nuWho, it felt much less dynamic. Not better or worse, but different. (And smaller scale).
Despite not watching it, I’m not really surprised they cancelled it, because I didn’t watch it.
I assume Netflix has massive amounts of data on what people watch, so they’d have sound reasons for cancelling it (eg: no one watching it) that probably don’t factor in quality at all.
Anecdotally, I heard lots of people talking about the various Gen1 shows and Defenders. I heard a couple of people talking about JJ2. I haven’t heard anyone talking about Luke Cage 2 or Iron Fist 2 (except in this thread) and @LexW was the most positive I’ve read about IF2.
It’ll be interesting to see if Daredevil S3 gets any buzz, or if Defenders+Iron Fist 1 killed a lot of hype/interest (though personally, I didn’t hate either).
I didn’t watch S2, so I don’t really know about their chemistry. It’d be a shame/waste if they couldn’t find something to do with those characters though, as each of them was great.
(Not having read the comics, I never quite got how Misty was a dragon though).
Adding Danny to Luke Cage seems like it’d be tricky, as having a random very white hero running around is almost the antithesis of that show. They didn’t have much chemistry in Defenders.
Maybe they could keep him around as a random guy that shows up from time to time in all the shows.
Imho they bit off too much with attempting 4 simultaneous shows plus Defenders. It sounded like a great idea on paper, but it’s just too hard to keep up with (for both the makers and the viewers). Not even counting Punisher.
