A few months ago, I got a new keyboard and it was only available in US (ANSI) layout. After a brief adjustment period I was just fine (having one key less sometimes makes for a very slight annoyance), typing as I used to, i.e. mostly national layout switching to US as needed.
I already knew my way around US for the most part, but not as well as national. So I made a point to use it. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made: for coding, shell work, and typing in English of course, the US layout just feels much better. Cannot honestly say it’s any bit faster, but it feels more comfortable.
In fact now when I boot a system and it defaults to national I’m like WOT!! Only going back to national when I need the special characters (note: international US is technically an option, in practice it’s so slow I’d rather switch)
We have so many different nationalities on RPS Forum, I was wondering what other forum goers choose, and came up with this little poll. You can pick multiple options.
What’s your go-to set up then? and you’re welcome to tell us the hows and whys, if that pleases you.
