Looks like you’re making good progress. I enjoy the reports because I seem to have forgotton so much about that game - lockstones and stuff like that, even bosses.
I was away for most of last week, and all I could think of was getting back to Remnant: From the Ashes. It’s been a while since I had that from a game - I don’t know whether it’s because it’s a great game or if it just hits the sweet spot for me. Certainly, it has its acolytes on Reddit, where people are doing run upon run.
So I got back to it over the weekend and came to a real humdinger of a boss. Most bosses have gone down in less than five tries, and this is helped by the bonfire being right outside the boss fight in all cases. It’s super convenient and even if the encounter lasts less than ten seconds, it’s trivial to try again with a different loadout.
The key to boss fights so far has always been to deal with their minions in a deliberate manner before getting a few shots in on the boss, rinse and repeat. Then all of a sudden I’m fighting the boss from hell, no minions, multiple phases, six or seven different attacks, and there are two of them, so one is always behind you (you fight on a bridge and they are off to each side).
Also, there’s an attack it does that wipes 95% of your health, so if you’re not at 100% when they do it, it’s curtains. However, this attack is interruptible, if you concentrate fire on the boss’s weak spot.
25 tries later (I know because there’s a single-use consumable you pop before the fight and I’d bought 27 of them) I was making no progress. Could get one boss down to 95% of it’s health and half off the other guy but something was wrong. I couldn’t interrupt the death attack. Was my weapon under levelled or what?
Finally watched a video and the guy was interrupting it with a little pop gun compared to what I was using. Oh no! I finally have a look at my gear and notice that I’m wearing a ring that removes all enemy weak spots and replaces them with a chance to crit. Oh my god. He has no weak spot!
I’ve had a couple of goes since, without the ring, and it is much easier. The interrupt happens almost immediately, and I’m able to interrupt both guys in a few seconds. Should be able to finish him off today.
