Assassin’s Creed Origins really pissed me off yesterday.
First of all it started randomly crashing. Twice just as I’d cleared out the enemies of large camps without alerting anyone, and the way the save system works it put me back outside with the objectives partially cleared but the camp fully repopulated with enemies. There are no quick saves or anything in this game so you can’t even do anything to mitigate this. So yeah, have fun redoing the last half hour of careful stealth again. I tried some fixes for common crashes and it hasn’t crashed for a few hours after that so hopefully that’s fixed now.
And then it committed the crime of forcing me to be detected during an assassination mission. It’s done this before but here it was really egregious. I’m out to murder someone, I sneak into their lair and they instantly know I’m there and start shouting things at me. Bayek, instead of being a smart assassin starts having a loud conversation with them and in the end I’m forced into a really annoying boss fight.
Fuck you game, just let me sneak up and shiv them in the back, don’t take control away and force me to behave like a moron. I get that you had a story for this character and wanted to humanise them, but there’s always a cutscene conversation with your main targets after you kill them, and you have environmental storytelling and written notes and stuff. It would have been more effective if I’d gotten to just outright murder them and then fill in their backstory.
Anyway, still having fun (as long as the crashing is sorted now), just needed to vent a bit.
