Ahhh good I wanted to play that from the stuff I saw, great to hear it’s actually good.
Talking of surprisingly good, I’ve been playing the Outriders demo, which is on Steam here, and er, it’s pretty great, actually, for my money.
In terms of setting, visual style and even gameplay, you could say Outriders exists pretty exactly at a mid-point between Mass Effect and Gears of War, but with looter-shooter elements that instead of deriving from Destiny or Borderlands, seem to derive more from Diablo 3 (after it became good). It’s definitely a “third person shooter” rather than a RPG, and it has co-op for I think up to three people (which is kind of major imo), but it’s just like, fun and works and sufficiently challenging (it has a Diablo 3-style system where you can raise/lower the world-difficulty pretty much at will). Everything seem to you know, work really well. The gameplay is smooth, the cover system is extremely smooth and reliable to come in and out of, the shooting is good (not as ultra-perfect as Destiny 2, but nothing is, and I think in a third-person shooter it’s slightly less important), very importantly to me the powers feel good and can be used very frequently, and hell even the framerate is great!
The story and stuff is pretty silly/trope-y (evil English dude vs good Cowboy dude at the start, fr’ex) but there was at least one “Oh boy” twist I probably should have seen coming, and it’s mostly fun and pace-y (read the backstory for the English dude btw it’s hysterical).
Also to be clear it’s not an MMO - it’s Diablo/Borderlands style.
Anyway if you like third-person shooters or looter-shooters (especially if you’d like to see a more considered approach to their gameplay), I’d definitely give the demo a try, I was pretty surprised by how well put together and fun it is - I guess that’s why they made a demo! The only real problem I have (and I guess this is also why it’s a demo) is that it sometimes crashes when I leave the inventory, hopefully they can fix that before launch!
