I can only speak to this on your list, but yes, it is very MMO-ish. Daily and weekly stuff and a lot of grinding (most of which I haven’t even figured out yet). I also suspect it’ll take ages to really understand it because the new player experience is … complicated, and everything is confusing, and unlike games like Guild Wars 2 and Warframe, where you can find everything on their wikis, Destiny 2 is very painful to find info for, weirdly.
It is fun, though (with some exceptions), and the shooting is excellent. Plenty of vistas too.
So, while I’m at it, further on my adventures in Destiny 2.
I have all three classes up to around 910 now, so the drops are rather more interesting. I’ve been finding a number of exotics at random (and holy cow, does it annoy me that the rarest are called Exotics while the rather common ones are called Legendary. Especially because legendaries use the exact same background colour as they do in Guild Wars 2, only in the latter they are very special and it takes forever to craft them).
Still haven’t a clue about the right setup for Titan and Hunter. Nothing I try really seems to work well.
Also tried something called Heroic Missions, which seems to be various story missions at a harder difficulty. Apparently you can’t solo them, even if it says 1 to 3 players, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to avoid getting put together with other people.
But it went well enough.
Then I tried the next stage, something called Vanguard Strikes, which … I don’t know, apparently once you’ve done one, you just immediately go to the next on the list (a list which isn’t shown, so I have no idea how many missions there are). Which is rather weird. It seems like it could take hours. And it was awful. The fighting was okay, but there’s a lot of stupid jumping and I had to give up after being revived some fifty times because I failed the jumps.
Highly unfun. And of course you need to do them to get certain stuff, which I guess I can write off.
Public events are fun, though. Just random people popping up on the maps and joining in.
Still not gotten any wiser about most of the icons on the map…
