I too am playing Bloodstained: Ritual of The Night (PC).
I’d have preferred 2D sprites for the game, and that is my only gripe with it. Especially as the backers wanted that, but were ignored. That said it does look good.
Been playing the game for the past few days. Quite a good game overall. Had 1 crash so far. Got stuck a few times trying to work out where to go next. First time that happened was prior to getting the double jump, then after reaching the underground bits. It took me a while before I figured out, that one of the shards I got from one of the normal enemies down there allowed you to swim (well more like jet around), considering that all of the other major upgrades were given via bosses that bit caught me off guard. You get so many shards so often, that you zone out from it, after a while.
It’s not as good as SOTN, but it does follow many similar beats to it. And it feels like a 2D Castlevania game, which is what matters most really. Some of the music has that “Castlevania” feel as well. Some bits have no music at all, which is odd. None of the music I’ve heard so far is video game soundtrack keeping worthy (unlike SOTN and Super Castlevania IV). The 2D Castlevania’s had that electronic rock mixed with classical thing going on. Not the case with this one. More just the classical.
Some of the conversations go on for a bit too long. I do like that there’s side quests and all that. Gives you that extra bit to look out for when exploring. Unlocking new items via crafting is super useful.
