The weird thing about Th4if is that I’ve never seen it on sale in any marketplace. I’ve actually been meaning to buy it for years, but it never gets shown to me.
Looking it up I see it’s by Square-Enix, which makes it even more odd, given I have both DEs, and a ton of immersive sims on my Steam, but I’ve never seen it come up. Have added it to my wishlist to await a serious sale.
I played a bit of the Anthem demo earlier, and I’ll say one thing for it - it’s fuck of a lot more fun than Destiny 2. It’s like a mish-mash of elements from ME3, Monster Hunter, and Warframe and clearly heavily influenced by how Iron Man and his and related power-armour is portrayed in Marvel movies. The flying and jumping and so on is VERY Iron Man-esque, in a good way. The running around and shooting is, to my mind, more fun than Destiny 2 as noted, and not a little bit more, but a lot. The guns aren’t quite as good - that’s true, but what this is showing to me is that having guns that feel pretty perfect is not actually that important. There was though, I must warn everyone, a PUZZLE, in a normal mission, and one that was in no way obvious or explained. I ended up having to look it up, but we got there (without any talking either!).
The one big annoyance was that motion blur wouldn’t turn off, despite me turning it off in options very clearly (it was also on when switched to on, so that wasn’t it), and I don’t think my computer QUITE cuts it, because with V-Sync on I was clearly at 30 FPS most of the time, with some drops and the odd moment of 60 FPS. I was playing with everything on High or Ultra though so I should probably shut up about that.
I may play the demo a bit more over the weekend. It was fun and stuff, but not enough yet to make me either convinced that the game was a must-have or a should-avoid (whereas Destiny 2’s open beta suggested it was a “should-avoid”, but then I got it anyway in a Humble Bundle and played it some after that).
