Your claim was that governments essentially self-determine how laws are implemented, my rebuttal (and I even cited an example directive) shows in plaintext that the EU directives stipulate in black and white that the EU essentially dictates that laws must be drafted and implemented by member states, there’s no self-determination, this is very much an “instruction from up on high” and that the EU hand out the laws that must be put into force.
In this case, the privatization of the Postal Services, your attempt at muddying the topic isn’t constructive or helpful when I’ve already provided you with the evidence that demonstrates that yes, the EU was directly responsible (not just the UK mind) for forced privatization and the forced “liberalization” of postal markets and that this directive came from - and this answers the second half of your confusion - a very undemocratic body.
This is what I highlighted when I stated that the EC is not democratic and indeed has an allergy to direct democracy.
This is because it’s fairly well known that MEP’s are very truncated in the power they have as regards the EU and as we already know, the EC is not elected through any form of a vote that the public has access to. Heaven forbid we might actually elect the lawmakers.
EDIT: This Grizz, this is where we’re having the problem, you say things like this -
And yet you do not provide reference or source for the claim. I’m supposed to take you at your word when I know damn well you wouldn’t take me at mine if I made similar claims, you’d expect me to source and reference that statement so it held up, yet you’re expecting me to just take you at your word that mystically because the Directive was passed it was “the will of the member states”.
You know my immediate counterargument will be that the EC isn’t representative of the member state governments and frequently takes actions that are prima facie hostile to various bodies within the EU (proof already supplied - see Visigrad bloc being fined, Italy, Greece, et al) and whilst the EP may be more representative as it’s directly elected by the people, it has truncated power and does not have legislative ability therefore rendering it somewhat neutered in what it can do.
So once again, source your claims please.
