Read the fucking sources, following the fucking links, or shut up, mate. You don’t get to accuse people of talking “drivel” unless you do. CAAT’s research is nearly impeccable. It’s so good that the fucking government has come to them before asking for information, and MPs from both parties routinely do.
A very specific interesting benefit from selling stuff to Israel is the “battle-tested” claim which is some sick shit. Notice I said it “sells British weapons”. Not so much “to Israel”, but to other countries via both the “battle-tested” stuff and via supporting conflict. There are a lot of companies out there who would not benefit from Israel solving the problem of Palestine in any way at all, two-state or one.
As for both Labour and the Tories doing it, well, yes, they’re both scum, especially new Labour, and there’s a particular kind of scummy Labour politico who thinks “jobs for the boys” are worth tens of thousands of deaths elsewhere.
But here’s the problem - with Corbyn in charge, who is massively anti-arms-sales, that would at least temporarily stop. Israel actually wouldn’t be badly affected, they can just switch to America for some stuff and build tons of their own stuff, but the Saudis and others who insist on having such an OP military in part because of Israel (despite supposed alliances etc.), would have some issues. And Britain would lose more money on arms sales to various countries, and MPs and so on would lose various lucrative directorships and the like.
Tacitly huh? Nice weasel words.
You act like explicit and tacit are the same, not opposites. Frankly by that logic, I “supported” the IRA because I thought their fight against Britain was justified, despite feeling numerous bomb blasts and routinely travelling through the Ring of Steel and so on. I suppose you may well have too - a large proportion of the population of Britain did - a huge proportion of the population of America did - in fact I think the majority of Americans supported the IRA.
It’s also pure hypocrisy. The government we have right now supports the fucking Saudis. The Saudis who are INFINITELY WORSE than the IRA + the PLO (and far worse than the worst Israeli stuff too actually!). They had the new Saudi prince, who became prince basically THROUGH atrocity, immediately committed atrocities, and so on, over just recently.
Yet that apparently “tacitly” (FFS) supporting some sort of terrorist-y group years ago is much worse than actively supporting evil dictators right now. If Corbyn is “bad” for “tacit” support of the IRA or whoever, then May is presumably “basically Stalin or Hitler” for supporting the Saudis, no?
And plus virtually every major Tory of similar age to Corbyn “tacitly supported” various death squads, or other terrorists. May missed that by a few years, but only a few, and has certainly been buddy-buddy with leaders who have death squads (again, Saudis say hello).
You’ve illustrated my point.
They’re unequivocally opposed to anti-Semitism the same way the Tories or LDs are. Claiming that they haven’t said that is lying. It’s not “a version of the truth”. It’s not “a perspective”, it’s straightforwardly lying.
I do agree with one thing though - that mural was fairly obviously anti-Semitic if looked at properly (which a lot of people on both sides of politics didn’t do, initially), but if you can’t see how odd it was that no-one cared back when it was put up and comments were made, but suddenly years later it was a huge problem (long after he’d become leader), then that’s a problem. Notably few in the right-wing press actually quoted Corbyn’s extremely boring comment (and it’s not even clear he’d looked at the picture properly), they just implied he said something like “I LOVE RACISM!!! YOU GO GIRL!”. When it fact he make a comment so boring I could barely finish reading it:
""Mear One said on his Facebook page: “Tomorrow they want to buff my mural Freedom of Expression. London Calling, Public art.”
Corbyn replied: “Why? You are in good company. Rockerfeller [sic] destroyed Diego Viera’s [sic] mural because it includes a picture of Lenin.”"
This sparkling and exotically-spelled exchange was apparently “strong support” or the like, jesus fucking wept.
I mean you said:
Made a meal? Fuck me mate. One poorly spelled line of text? 18 words. I suspect in fact you had NO IDEA what he actually said because the press didn’t tell you. If that’s making a meal, I just fed half the planet.
