Was watching Johnny Chiodini’s patreon inaugural stream where he was playing Loop Hero and it reminded me of a webgame that RPS had written about a really long time ago. Two web games, actually, but both made by the same person. They may have been flash based so playing them again could be impossible now, but it’s worth checking if anyone can remember them:
The first one was a match three, but it had a day/night cycle and above the main match grid was a house that you would upgrade over time as you made more matches, with the game grid tiles being resources that would also change as you upgraded the house. Then during the night cycle the grid changed to different monsters and there would be a guy above the grid fighting the monsters.
The other game (which is the one that Loop Hero kind of reminded me of) started as a text adventure where you started out gathering resources, and then npcs would show up and build a village and a second pane would open up and suddenly it became more of a management game, and then when the village became large enough you could venture out of the village at which point it became a top down ASCII RPG adventure with a massive world map.
Does anybody remember these? What were they and where were they?
