Lyonesse is actual place from Arthurian legend, rather than just a spin on Lyon though.
That punk “just fucking print it” attitude is I swear responsible for an insane amount of what really works about Warhammer fantasy and 40K. Whenever they tried to be refined and clever, they fell flat on their face - but when they just wrote up what was awesome at the time, what worked, whether it was football hooligan orcs where red ones really did go fasta, or lazy rip-off dark elves who are 66% Melnibonean, 33% Marvel Comics, or the completely drunk Eldar mythology from 40K, it kicked ass.
AoS was very much an attempt to be clever. To cleverly design a clever setting which cleverly included but recontextualized all the stuff the already had and potentially was able to introduce new armies (which, so far, has sadly been limited to “Space Marines but magic instead of tech”), and it’s a shockingly soul-less and “Who cares?!” piece of tat. It’s like, they basically didn’t understand their own audience on a basic level. Pfah.
What’s Rick Priestley up to now? Rolling around moderately-sized piles of money?
