I think the problem with spawning and Ulthuan is to do with it’s geography. So the one I experimented with. Ritual sites are Lothern, White Tower of Hoeth and Gaeth Vale in Avelorn. So all inner sea kingdoms. I have an army on each of the 3 gates, 2 by Lothern as that’s where any invading army from oversea would have to come from, then one full stack in Saphery and Avelorn.
Click the button 6-8 stacks appear exactly by Gaeth Vale, not a couple turns away, basically on top of.
Reload and shift some troops from Saphery and the Phoenix Gate to Gaeth vale. The 6-8 stacks now turn up in Saphery on top of the White Tower.
Fiddle a bit more so that Saphery is covered and Gaeth Vale but Lothern is less well protected. It spawns in Yvresse, which is east outer Ulthuan. Which due to there not being a gate on the eastern mountain range is probably 7-8 turns away (with stops to raze cities) from even getting to the ritual site. It’s also absolutely not where any of my armies are having burned all the noriscans to death years ago. The annoying thing being it takes forever for my armies to get from the inner sea to Yvresse which is now in ruins.
So I suspect it’s making some distance calculation for where to spawn them that doesn’t actually take pathing into account, e.g. it’s ignoring the fucking mountains of Ulthuan. As it’s just not happened on my Skrolk or Queek playthroughs. They spawn in sensible easy to cycle armies to locations.
I was also annoyed as the fucking massive gates of Ulthuan never actually got used.
Anyway still looking forward to Mortal Empires. I’ve got so much civilisation to take to the Old World and so many beards to shave.
