I mean, one thing about Diablo-style ARPG fans, who would be the primary purchasers, is that the two things that they hate most in ARPGs are firstly, any perception at all that a game might be “selling out” (in any way, which includes going online-only, becoming more accessible, going for a more mainstream visual take and so on), and secondly, games that don’t work. Everyone hates the second, but ARPG fans really, really hate it, because their games have historically had big problems with it, whether it’s connection issues, being unplayable due to bugs, or whatever. Unfortunately TLIII seems to be hitting both right now. Unless they were going to go under, they should have held off launch until they had an offline mode, I’d suggest. Oh well.
Hopefully they fix this and reviews start to improve, unlike, say Wolcen, which has been “mixed” or worse since release.
