So my duel(?
) boot is finally setup with Mint and Win7 as I got a spare key from a discarded PC. I got one last look at Win10 as I replaced the old pc with a laptop for a friend… wow. That was interesting.
I’m happy with the performance of games in Mint, a pity that some crash the desktop (and I have to exit out… I’ll have to learn the command to log back in, don’t bother typing it below, I won’t REMEMBER it yet.
) when going window mode instead of full screen.
Funny thing that Xcom2 still suffers from complete and utter lag when viewing the glob map (I was not expecting that bug to go over to OpenGL mode). I guess they set “dof/blur” to infinite percent or something and fork bombed themselves. The game eats the CPU use sitting at the screens, paused looking at nothing happen.
PS, I forgot what I meant to post in the first place. As I’m going between the two, booting 7 and Mint… I’ve been trying some tricks to get cross platform saves and other media etc. Steam does most of that for me already (except when it resets my progress everytime on certain games :P).
Other than that I’ve set up a third partition for stuff that I want on both. So music, pictures, movies etc will go there, as no point it being in “my documents” and a folder for Linux, and I’ve found sharing between the two not as easy as a click of a button (I’m not willing to setup a separate server for this
). But interestingly, adding a Dropbox folder to that drive, I can load DB from Windows or Linux, and carry on as if I’d never swapped OSs. Which is nice as I can sync most stuff I want between PCs and also not have to worry about duplication.
