Years ago (like maybe over a decade?) i used to use their ‘search and destroy’ software, it was fine, then got more fiddly and annoying at some point, so other utilities took preference. I’m not aware of them doing terrible things, but it has been a while.
I ran their latest Anti-Beacon (1.6 currently) on one of my Windows 7 installs, and it seems fine. Very quick and simple and even on my anti-windows10-nonspyware version of Windows 7 it found a few things to change. I’ll keep an eye on it and report back if i find anything fishy going on.
Having said that, IF it means you can commence the installation of all the updates for Windows 7 (and 8) without having to hand-roll your installation, then just ‘nuke’ all the spyware crap with this tool, that is a decent option going forward over the next few years. The ‘anniversary’ update for Windows 10 broke the tool, according to the forums, but it seems that might be fixed now?
