So far, a stunning VR game from what I’ve played. Does pretty much everything you’d expect a Half Life VR game to do and then some. Really impressed with it. Lots of WOW! moments and very cool neat stuff. The attention to detail is second to none. Fantastic gameplay and runs really well too. I loved HL2 and probably played through it about half a dozen times, so to be able to revisit City 17 again and in VR, is just really bloody cool to say the least.
Anyway these shots are taken from a few chapters in. Unfortunately I didn’t have things setup for taking shots properly at the beginning and I didn’t know what the shortcut for taking screenshots was on the Oculus controllers. So I was having to lean over and reach out to press F12 on the keyboard, oh and the spectator HUD was enabled too. As a result all the shots of the early game I took looked a bit crap. Oh well I’m definitely going to play it again so, I’ll take some on my next play through. To be honest there’s some really cracking shots of the early parts taken by others on the net anyway.
They horror aspect of the series has definitely been ramped up with the improved graphics. There’s some really rather gruesome and macabre stuff in there now.
A headcrab victim sans headcrab.
The new (old?) look health station. Some are empty and you can find these grubs in the tubes to refill them. Yeah they get squished.
Corpses can be checked for spare ammo clips.
If you eject a mag with rounds still left in it, you will lose those rounds. There’s one round left in the mag (yellow bar) and one in the chamber (white bar).
Pop the mag out and there’s one still in the clip. You can pop the mag back in and use that last shot if you want. If you recock the weapon that round in the chamber will be ejected and you’ll lose it. Just love the attention to detail!
