As soon as I thought I was burned out on Tarkov and about to go into a lenghty hiatus game just gave me six good raids in a row, where I was just shredding everyone left to right, getting from one or two to six PMC kills in a raid. Frustrating things still happened and I’m sure my success can be partly attributed to a few things not related to pure gaming skill that I don’t have a lot of (me being rich in the game and just not giving a damn at this point helps a lot, this game is supposed to be ‘tactical’ but its better to play it like Quake, netcode is notoriously bad so besides lags and stuff its also very generous to the player initiating the fight - peekers advantage, prefires working very well and stuff). Also I played with some graphics presets and I think this game looks better with noise filter and oversampling on.
This was a pretty chaotic battle. I looted the marked room and there was nothing good so I decided to check second building for a boss. There was no boss but plenty of PMCs. Don’t know if it was a team or separate groups of players. Somehow wiped everyone out and gout out with the stuff. I used RFB with m62s and a regular lvl 4th rig, they had a mix of great and modest gear.
Holding angles and leaning in this game against someone who is peeking just enough to prefire is horrible and never ends well as this person learned few moments later. They had a kitted out ak74n with 60-rounders and I was just prefiring to drain their ammo.
While I was still fighting the first a second PMC tried flanking me. We both kinda flubbed our shots but I won.
Back to the first enemy. Eventially, after a prefire battle, we both wide peeked and I shot them in the center of mass. Level 5th armor didn’t help too much, even after being nerfed m62 is still one of the best budget-friendly rounds (7usd, not that cheap but top stuf f costs almost three times that).
I heard the third one but had to heal and repack the mags so kinda forgot about the threat until it was too late I almost got shot in the back. I had basic ak-104 with bad ammo from the second PMC (I switched because it had a flashlight, sadly can’t insall flashlights on RFB) and of course I forgot to put it on full auto. Awkward firefight ensued. Thankfully I somehow clicked them in the head. Another 5th level armor didn’t help the owner. Fur hat shotgun w/ suppressor combo is for a quest. I hate quests and they now too because if they had something like a rifle I’d be dead.
Then I jumped out of the windows without checking the surroundings properly. Survived mostly because that player had a budget kit. And this time 5th level armor from prevous PMCs helped me.
Not sure how this one died, but they had great AKMN and another almost pristine level 5th armor.
And the gun porn segment from the raid…
My trusty RFB. High recoil but good enoughh for cqb and 100-150m sniping. ACOG + red dot is very viable after recent patch with optics rework (but ACOG + backup iron sights suck terribly, sadly). The patch itself was hit and miss (heh) but there are more viable and cheaper options now than before.
Trophy AKS-74N and an AKM both kitted up to 11. I never do that because I feel like mid budget variants do a good enough job with appropriate ammo and losing a super-best-in-slot upgraded weapon stings more. I got my cheap ak-101s back al lthe time from insurance and this rifle rocks with m855a1 rounds.
That stuff I dropped but AK-104 saved me so I have to post it. Why it have canted foregrip on such a basic weapon we will never know. Probably threw it together from parts lying around. Also I made a mistake, I recreated it from screenshots (because I left it in some pile of rubble in the dorms building) and now I notice it had AK-12 pistol grip. Oh well.
Good sks but not very well suited for cqb. Also this time of the wipe you just got to run BP rounds and this sks had a cheap alternative. Also suppressor onm the sks is really not a good idea until maybe on an open map, it kills ergonomics and recoil is much more manageble with a flash hider.
