Last week I fixed a (home,) PC for a colleague who was using it to do an Open University course. PSU had died and taken the mobo with it, I donated an old Phenom II board/CPU/Memory to replace it (big upgrade from a 1st gen Core 2,) so all he had to spring for was a new PSU. Dusted down the inside of the case, reinstalled Windows 7 (and managed to convince MS to reactivate it,) and made sure he didn’t lose any files.
I learned two things: Sometimes genuine thanks makes you feel better than any amount of cash reward, and that plowing through Windows Updates on a vanilla 7 install takes forever.
