Tharsis is really quite good. Be warned, though, it has a learning curve like FTL’s - you’ll die a lot learning how to play correctly, and it absolutely demands that you understand risk and probability, since it’s modeled as a dice-based board game. Death spirals can be kind of entertaining, though, since the crew starts submitting really weird proposals in the weekly meeting if they’re so stressed that they’re close to suffering a psychotic break.
Stress is the one not-obvious mechanic in the game. Everything else plays like a boardgame, with explicit rules. Stress determines the quality of the proposals you get, but there’s no way to know exactly how much stress starts bringing out the really bad ones. It’s something you have to learn to estimate.
