Today I completed my first run of hardcore mode in Crypt of the Necrodancer, and I also learned about the replay feature. Unfortunately, there are still some quirks to be worked out given it’s early access, so the replay didn’t accurately save my game. It only logs the dungeon seed and the player inputs, so the replay is not even a recording, it’s literally the game playing itself again with your inputs. This went horribly wrong in zone 3, you can probably tell when the game lost touch with reality. But I think the first two zones are still worth sharing, it’s only the final third of the game that was missing.
I uploaded the video to dropbox because youtube won’t let me upload anything over 15 minutes, but it’s three and a half gigs, so it’ll take a while to download. I also recorded it in a window, but then the quality is just abysmal and it’s still 1.22 gigs in size. I recorder this with MSI Afterburner on its default settings, does anyone know of a way to record better compressed videos here?
Alternatively, if you own Necrodancer, you can just drop this file into the Replays folder and it’ll play out just the same. Usually. It’s still Early Access and all.
Edit: Turns out Dropbox doesn’t like it if my account generates a gig of traffic for a single download request so that’s a no-go. Will youtube it in two parts instead.
