I didn’t know about that, thanks for the warning
And yea I’ve heard good things about Dxtory too, I think it’s good for taking screens as well.
For Shadowplay I believe you can change the maximum bitrate for recording so if people are using that and don’t like the quality, they may be able to increase the quality. Also change it to 60 fps recording
I think my favourite feature of Shadowplay isn’t the low performance impact or image quality, it’s the way it buffers everything you play so you can grab it later if something cool happens. It’s still young, there was a time when it wouldn’t work with any resolution except 1080p, so I expect we’ll see improvements but I’d happily take a slight hit in image quality to be able to record anything at nearly any time (the current buffer is limited to 20 minutes, I think?) without having to stop playing to do so.
Yea that’s a great feature (PS4 is supposed to do this for 15 min, but it’s kind of broken right now lol…).
I think the best to avoid any possible performance hit is to write the videos to a secondary HDD. I’ve got two externals hooked via USB3.0 and it works wonderfully with shadowplay, I should probably start using the last 5/10/20 min feature though, I usually keep it off.
Btw - that was an awesome Nuclear Throne vid… waiting for the release version, looks so good.
