I played through the whole game (I was a sucker for the holographic boxart). The game was a bunch of ideas put together and none revised to excellence. The evolving was a series of sliders rather than discrete steps, which made it hard to feel like you were actually changing. However, you could get new abilities from enemies which was fun, like a gun that remapped your keys. There was the weird team play aspect which didn’t work (I’ve never been into tactical shooters, but this really didn’t work you just controlled 1 at a time and left the other one there.) Combine that with sprawling oldschool FPS levels and it was a bit of a mess; a surprising, experimental, sometimes delighting mess, but a mess.
