The one piece of games writing I do consistently every year are notes on every game I played in a year. These used to be one sentence, and last year expanded into mini-essays, which it turns out was an enormous amount of work. I decided to get ahead and do them as the year went, but then it turns out 2019 was really rough for me and sort of blew up most of my personal projects.
Oh man! I found Devil Daggers so surprising a pick, I completely forgot others got it. I know a lot of people got Return of the Obra Dinn.
In retrospect it’s sort of weird that nobody got Endless Legend, but then again, RPS didn’t even put ANY turn-based strategy games in the top 24 this year, so I guess that was uncharacteristic of them. We’ll see about Humankind, I guess!
The good news is that I’ll be (voluntarily!) unemployed come January, and will wrap up that project by the end of the month, at which point I’ll put a link in your thread
