I picked up Nioh. Even as a big Soulsbourne fan, this game is destroying me. The opening section (which was completely unexpectedly set in an Elizabethan Tower of London) was quite straightforward and I was confused by how simple the boss there was. Then I stepped foot in Japan and everything started falling apart.
I eventually started to get the hang of things, but I’m now facing the first proper boss and I’m hitting a real brick wall.
Besides the difficulty though, I like the mechanics. It offers enough to separate it from From Software’s oeuvre, even though it very much in the same realm of stamina management. The different stances mix things up a bit too, adding another way to customise the way you play. I’ve mainly focused on a light dual wielding style, which is working well against most regular enemies, but is not so good against the larger enemies and this particular boss I’m on.
Besides that, myself and a couple of friends picked up Dead by Daylight. I don’t really know much about it, other than the basic concept of 4 people vs a slasher film-esque killer (or actual slasher film killer when combined with licenced DLC). I like the idea, although not sure how it will play with randos thrown in the mix. Sounds like the sort of thing that you really need a full compliment of people to enjoy, but we will see. Grabbed the Leatherface DLC to go with it, as Texas Chainsaw Massacre is by far the best of licences they have.
