One of my “must have” mods for Mount and Blade makes their food items stacks 10x as abundant.
Without it you feel like they really wanted to make a greengrocer clicker game. The food has exactly one gameplay element and that is morale. More variety = more morale which is… mediocre. At best.
Similarly if the only effects it has are binary states between Starving -1 to all whoosit stats and Fed it is also pointless.
These sorts of mechanics fit nicely into survival games, and usually feel shoehorned into almost anything else.
The SC screenshot and AMA indicate a rather stupid take on this where you start to gradually get blurry vision and shaking cursor-itis etc. I could see that crap as a thing for some types of drug withdrawal, but it sure as shit isn’t how hunger and thirst work.
Heres hoping this is another Optional System for Masochists. The AMA blather seems to indicate a mind numbingly stupid decision to make it mandatory though.
Can’t wait for them to add in a mandatory “Press A to inhale, X to exhale.” mechanism you must execute once per minute (not constantly, so it isn’t intrusive you see) to keep breathing (asphyxiation effect would be to Burst Into Flames judging from the starve/thirst effects).
