It would be incredibly easy, @alms. All SC has to do, in order to change people’s minds, is to actually achieve most to all of the shit it’s claimed it’s going to do.
If it does that, how long do you think anyone will care about what they said on the internet a week, a month, a year ago? I’ll tell you, because I’ve seen it, thousands of times - they won’t give a shit.
I mean, look at WoW - when it’s one the way out, some people say it’s a dumb cartoon MMO for babies. When it comes out, it’s a dumb solo cartoon MMO for babies with no friends and by people who don’t get the idea of MMOs, say many of the same people. Cut to a year later, about 50% of those people are playing WoW, and either deny they ever said that, or are happy to be wrong. Cut to two years later and it’s more like 99%, and again, they either deny saying that, or say they are happy to be wrong.
Me? I’m always happy to be wrong about a game. I’ve never stuck to my guns about a game being bad when I played it and enjoyed it. I’m a fairweather hater! I only hate games which suck or are vapourware or both.
If it turns out that it is an amazing game, you will see people like me saying “Welp, they sure turned that around!” or the like, and happily playing.
It’s just that, realistically, that won’t happen. The game is unlikely to release any time soon, and I suspect will never have more than about 30-60% of the features and happenings it claims to be aiming for. And probably about 1/20th the star systems, unless they go full procedural.
