Hey guys,
kind of inspired by the Pinball community I was wondering if anyone was interested in a group that is not focussed on a specific game, but rather a genre. I’m mostly talking about games with various forms of highscore lists.
I really like playing arcade games and they mostly feature some form of highscore. When playing alone, these highscores really don’t mean much and I couldn’t care less about the scores of some internet strangers (especially when the top scores are based on cheats / exploits).
But the fun comes in, when you see the scores of people you know. This is where the competition starts. This is when you start investing more time than reasonable, when play a level over and over just to get that final bit that gets you a higher spot on your friends list.
Seeing that arcade games are not that popular and finding people / groups around these games can be difficult, I thought it would be fun to get a small group going, so that you have at least a couple of guys / girls in each game to compete against.
What do you think, any interest in that?
I imagine something along those lines:
I create a steam group and everyone that joins that group implicitly agrees that everyone else in that group can add them to their friend list. If there is enough interest and players, we can do something like a “game of the month” where everyone concentrates on that game to get their scores up.
