Just to be super clear - messages are put automatically on hold by the system, using Super Scientific and Ultra-Cooled Black Magicks™, thus a post can remain hidden for as long it takes for a mod to notice, though we strive to check the queue as frequently as possible, we are also only human.
I understand this may be kind of a nuisance, but it saves us a lot of work when dealing with spammers.
TL;DR Keep contributing, and in no time you’ll get out of queue limbo and your posts will appear immediately.
To be fully honest I’ve been thinking for a while about a redesign of the forum board structure, and one of the things I was focusing my attention on, very recently, is how Other Stuff mostly seems to be one huge off-topic, as it would appear our Overlords may not have wanted us to talk about things completely other than games here, but simply games that are not PC.
Of course when changing the scope, some questions arise:
turning Other Stuff into The Totally Not-Gaming Stuff, would mean threads about non-PC gaming (e.g. PS4 news, Nintendo and so on) would have to go someplace else. And someone then would have go and fish them out, and I’m frankly too backlogged to even consider doing that myself, I’m not sure anybody else would volunteer for that, either, although it’s totally possible there are solutions that have not come to mind yet. There’s also the Low Energy approach: just leave stuff as it is, and only enforce the rules for new or old but active discussions.
at this stage, we have very little non-PC gaming talk, that I’m not sure it is warranted to have a board just for that - this can be easily seen as a bit of a chicken and egg problem: make the forum less PC-centric and you may very well find it hosting more discussions about other platforms as well, it’s just anybody’s guess until we go and try that out.
an alternative would be to make PC Gaming Discussion into simply Gaming discussion, this is probably best checked against the owners as clearly the site has a PC-centric slant, mostly they talk about mobile games only if there’s a good (PC) reason, although there have been exceptions (very few I think)
Of course this is all just me thinking aloud as, even if <list all the ifs>, only admins can make alterations to the forum structure.
