Nice, well done again everyone for playing along and I hope it brought some fun to the end of the year.
It’s always interesting watching along and seeing how it plays out. So far both times I’ve been surprised by what gets picked first, and which ones take a bit longer to get. For example, I was really surprised how long it took for Mr X from Resi 2 remake to be recognised. In my mind the game was a big focus of the early part of the year, and that character specifically being a big feature. So I was sitting here thinking ‘have I drawn him too vaguely?’
I try to mix up the clues so theres a bit of visual word play, some artwork clues either logo’s, boxart or moments from a game. I think it was quite a good mix, but I’d be interested in hearing what anyone thinks about the difficultly as it has been something I’ve found hard to gauge. I didn’t want it to be too hard, but I do sometimes wonder if it ends up going the other way and being too easy.
Other bits and pieces:
- My go-to imagry this time round seem to be drawing suns, planets or astra bodies. I had to throw out a few games because I kept thinking ‘I’ll draw a sun’ or somesuch.
- Some games have really really boring names. I’m looking at you Anno 1800. I spent an unhealthy amount of time trying to think of a clue for that game until I binned it in frustration. Other honourable mentions: Draugen, They Are Billons, Man of Medan. Luckily, I also ran out of space on the page before it became too serious a problem, and ironically in some cases I’ve now figured out clues, which will now have to go in my mind-bin.
- I’m quite happy with how the overall picture turned out. Not bad for the turnaround time. My favourite bits are probably the Far Cry New Dawn sunrise, the Eastshade tree and the Mortal Kombat logo. I’m also weirdly fond of that banana.
Anyway, once again, thank you for participating. I’m hoping to put another together new year, but won’t be thinking about that for a while. Have fun celebrating the new year and hopefully another great year of PC gaming!
