GMG has pre-order deal for Nioh: Complete Edition and a VIP voucher code (requires login) (good for the next 33 hours) that makes it $38.

PC previews might pop up soon with some info on the port. These screens show some graphics options. It’s a custom engine, does have a 30/60 fps limit (and cutscenes are 30), but supports high resolutions (16:9 only), and isn’t locked to to the console presets. This video has some PC footage with specs. EDIT: reportedly there is no mouse support.

DLGamer has a similar deal, at $39, if you add “DLGAMERVIP” as a coupon code. This one is good for 4 days if you want to wait for reviews or port info.

Daedalic are having a weekend sale over on Steam. They have some very tasty bundles that are great value with the price reducing with the number of items you have.

Word of warning, around half of the bundles are still under the old system, and do not reduce the price to account for already owned titles.

The easiest way to tell is to look at the text at the bottom. If it displays the two lines “Price of individual products: XXXX”/“Cost of the package: XXXX”, then it is the old bundle system that does not credit already owned titles. If it displays the three lines “Individual price of the X items you don’t already have: XXXX”/“Bundle discount: XX%”/“Your cost: XXXX”, then it is the system that does credit you for already owned titles. Considering how often Daedalic’s games have been offered through various bundle sites, it is very much possible to find the old style bundles cost more than just buying the titles you are missing.

Of course if you don’t own any of the titles, then it is largely, though not always, irrelevant. (Due to the way discounts are set and calculated, you can get the rare case where it is cheaper to buy one title on its own first and then buy the bundle to get the rest of the contents.)

I saw those and then it didn’t click for some reason. The Daedalic Entertainment Artist Selection and the Publisher Weekend Bundle both discount items.

I have an on-going beef with Daedalic for the way they have stubbornly avoided to just make Chaos on Deponia as cheap as the other two games.

Now, someone would imagine the three Deponia games, being parts of the same story, would be in a bundle? Bzzzzt.

You’ll have to buy a “Daedalic Adventure Bundle II”, containing: Chaos on Deponia, A New Beginning - Final Cut, The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav, Anna’s Quest, and Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today.

I have two of the above and not really interested in those I don’t already. Considering giving up on it entirely, as by this stage, I have all but forgotten what happened in the first game anyway.

I was a bit more annoyed with Deponia: The Complete Journey. It is sold as a completely separate title, though it effectively is a rebundle of the first three games. The particularly annoying part of that Daedalic never addressed some of the performance issues and bugs in the original Deponia, which were addressed with The Complete Journey.

Mind, I was most annoyed just by the devs attitudes towards people that didn’t like the rather crappy ending of Goodbye Deponia. Heck, Deponia: Doomsday was apparently made with the intention of mocking people that didn’t like the ending of Goodbye. I can understand what they wanted the ending of the trilogy to be, but they failed utterly at selling it as a natural part of the story. You spent three games overcoming various situations, only to get railroaded through a cliched situation that any player should be able to find multiple better solutions for. Not only is it a cliche, it is a cliche that is almost always “solved” with better results than Goodbye allows. Worse, the game waiting for you to pick the answer it wants you to pick completely undermines the idea that there is any pressure. (Not that the endings of the previous titles were any less railroaded into unsatisfying results.)

Same difference? That the trilogy exists as a separate “game”, also seems like a perfect reason for not bundling the three parts.

Blackguards I is a decent dungeon crawler. Nothing terribly special, but it does have lots of environmental options and unique fights. Like a more railroady King’s Bounty.

Watch Dogs is free on Uplay until the 13th, downloadable tomorrow. The Ubisoft activation server is not currently working in the Uplay client, but maybe the website works.

Klei games are on a weekend sale, including Oxygen Not Included, which is a Dwarf Fortress-like, for want of a better term. This preview image from their next update alone makes me want to buy it:

… but it’s Early Access, and the top reviews are pretty negative. For reasons that might go away as development progresses, but after getting burned by the similar-genre Spacebase DF-9 which never did get finished, I’m leery. Even if it’s a completely different developer.

I have Oxygen Not Included, I got it when it was still a hidden item for sale on steam. Its come a long way from the start and I was burnt by Spacebase DF-9 but I trust Klei A LOT MORE than Double Fine and its already more of a game than Spacebase BUT I would not recommend Oxygen for someone to play at the moment. If you are happy to muck about and learn systems and then leave for a couple of months and come back and try a new system, go for it but its very finicky at the moment and unrefined and a lot of work to do anything. You colony will die and you will have to start again a lot to learn the systems and the priorities.

At the moment they are adding in the base systems to make the colony work and the dupes survive before going deeper in the systems, they believe these core systems are now in so the automation update is the first to build on them and hopefully expand the gameplay and link some of the systems together and make the game less micro-managey and more manageable.

I would wait until Christmas sale to see how the automation update lands unless you really want in now. I have around 14 hours in Oxygen Not Included but 31 hours in Rimworld, which I know I have had longer but there is more of a sim there if you want a sim fix.

Although not without some charm, It’s old and hasn’t aged terribly well, it is just the beginning of a story, so playing it to completion may still leave some dissatisfaction behind, unless you play the sequel - which I didn’t.

Let’s say for someone short on time who would like to play some interesting adventure games, I’d rather point towards the recent output of Wadjet Eye’s, and leave Syberia to the more dedicated adventure gamer.

I noticed that the current weekly sale in steam has some nice deals. Car mechanic simulator 2015 gold for 2.49, Sins of a solar empire rebellion for 12, which is rarely seen so low, crypt of the necrodancer for 2.99 and broforce for 3.49.
