There’s not much to it. The climbing is,unfortunately, not at all interesting (literally just point joystick up) and the story is slight, to put it mildly. It’s not even all the pretty, IMO. I suppose that makes me the dissenter here, but even at $2 I regretted the purchase.

I gathered as much from the review, which said the same things other than that it’s not that pretty, but it was more generous about it. I guess I’ll find out on which side I fall.

I am a huge fan of Prince of Persia style games, so I was hoping the climbing would fall into a similar vein.

Oh… I was assuming this was one of those Majesty settlers-type games. It kinda is, but it’s that 2d sidescrolling pixel-art one from last year, not an old rts-view style one from 5 years ago like I was imagining.

The climbing literally doesn’t even involve button presses. It’s purely “push the direction you want to go” and that’s all there is. No timing, no jumping, no nothing.

Is it possible to mess up and fall? There seems to be a fair bit of jumping sideways from ledge to ledge… does that involve a jump key, or is that auto-jumping too?

That’s auto-jumping, no buttons ever. And no, as far as I can tell there’s absolutely no way to mess up and fall. It’s a walking simulator that happens to have some verticality.

They did the same kind of thing last year (I think it was last year). They gave out a few different games over the year, and then gave the same games away again for their Christmas/December “Days of Ubisoft” event (along with a bunch of stuff like bad wallpapers and icons and such.)

The following are on sale on Android on Google Play. (and might be on apple too, no idea).

• Lumino City $0.99 / 89p - I played this on PC and thought it was great.
• Samorost 3 $0.99 / 79p - Not played 3, but played 1 and 2 on PC and thought they were great too.
• Old Man’s Journey $0.99 / 59p - Not played this as it’s newer, but as I recall, Pip loved it.

Note: I haven’t played any of these on mobile, so I have no idea how the performance, controls, etc… have translated. I’d imagine Lumino City and Samorost would be very at home on touch screens though.

Deadlight isn’t amazing, but it has its moments.
The side on style is pretty good - it looks nice.
The gameplay/combat is nothing special.
There’s one section in the middle where it suddenly spikes in difficulty.
The story is very predictable.
It’s ok for a dollar or in a bundle, and I did actually finish it, but it’s more of a 7/10 imho.

(From GOG connect) has anyone played Tahira? I’ve never heard of it and it looks great. It looks like the kind of fantasy game I’ve always wanted someone to make, but they always make RPGs or RTS games instead.
Reviews are a bit mixed though.
