see for me a huge part of diablo series was getting loot and comparing it to what you have, weighing up the pros and cons of each item etc… with the RMAH and wanting to moneytize players the drop rates sucked, but also the stat system is poor and over simplified too. Also not being able to play a single player game due to dodgy servers was attrocious, this is activision / blizzard here with very deep pockets not some indie dev. The story wasn’t great either, but story is rarely blizzards strong point so didn’t bother me.
for me something went wrong when they merged with activision. Blizzard used to be - make great games, you will make money anyway through word of mouth and fan loyalty. with D3 they became lets work in devious ways to make money even if it makes the game poor.
sure they patched D3 to be better, but that was just before the launch of the expansion, because if they had left all that RMAH shit in they would have sold embarrassingly low amounts of the expansion, which would have got the shareholders all in a panic.
Blizzard was a company motivated by making great games (and if you make great products the money comes anyway). Activision Blizzard is a company that is motivated by making large amounts of cash.
