My first reaction is instantly fall in love. Now after I have read all heroes bio and checked their powers, I am somewhat exceptic, but the optimism remains.
The thing is… some of the heroes powers seems very powerfull, while others seems weak. Reinheart seems very weak, while Henzo is godlike.
The maps seems optimized for melee and smg-distance (Whatever that means)… snipers oneshot people, but the maps don’t seems designed for snipers.
I think the maps will quickly dry this game of fun, for how agresivelly average are. Any map area is studied and balanced, and the result is that every area feel the same any other area. There will not ve a truly place where snipers willl excel, or where a turret based class will excel.
They have a lot of awesome parts, I love the heroes, and some of the powers looks fun, I like the different movement systems and make sense for the character, but I fear the game will feel stale after the second game.
Anyway this game can climb to the heights of Call of Duty or Team Fortress 2. I don’t see anything that will stop that, but for me, Its a bit weak on the element-X.
People make DOTA’s, because these are easy to make, but making a team based FPS game is a bit more dificult, and every ingredient is important, the sound and feel of the weapons, the physics of moving around the level, the design of the levels, the matchmarking / lobby systems, … its not trivial.
The lack of a progression system is suprising, even games like LoL have some sort of progression system (Runes) I doubt any game will release without that shit.
