So, since last time I asked I finally managed to convince my brothers and my father that a laptop that slowed to a crawl whenever you alt-tab to or open a PDF file or a spreadsheet is not conductive to work (especially when you need to consult said spreadsheets to answer potential customers on the phone).
The laptop in question is this one in case you have suggestions for improving performances I might not have tried yet (and yes, it was bought without consulting me because “I make things out to be too complicated”):
I have thrown together quickly a config based on what I could find on Amazon:
I decided not to skimp too much on the power supply for obvious reasons but other than that any suggestions to lower the total price?
Do keep in mind that what is needed is mostly something that can hold multiple firefox tabs, excel spreadsheets, word files, PDF files and can allow to research an e-mail archive that goes back to the early '00 in Mozilla Thunderbird without melting down.
I’ve even thought to take out the RX 580 and the 650w power supply from my current PC, put in a smaller power supply and use it for the office while building a new PC for myself since I can’t find any complete information on lower end hardware and at least I’m sure that my old i5-3470 with 8gb of RAM can handle heavy office work easily.
