If stuff like 8 posts were a direct consequence of the vB having holes as large as a cruiser, as suggested, it would follow logic that similar troubles would have been common elsewhere as well.
Over the years I have been a member of many other larger vB4-powered forums, as I imagine many others as the software has been pretty popular, and I cannot personally recall one single instance of seeing the same issues as experienced on RPS Forum.
Stuff like that I could see easily when I had no mod cape …just like anybody else; it’s user-facing, so simply a matter of paying attention.
I’m pretty fine with people using whatever form of communication they like better, and if the forum isn’t it, well… ¯_(ツ)_/¯ time moves on, right? OTOH I always felt like ‘render unto Caesar’ is quite a fair rule.
As for Squiz’s experience, it aligns very well with other things I’ve seen, strongly indicating that making a global mod is not a matter of adding people to a single group, and thus neither removing their privileges is as simple as removing them from it. FWIW I could also provide evidence pointing towards other issues, that I believe are possibly related to faulty permissions.
