He’s still appearing alongside them and sharing a platform with them. He did appear at the Local Government Association after the announcement of removing all restrictions and raised concerns about long covid. Of particular note was:
“Fundamentally the two ways to prevent long Covid in my view are to keep Covid rates right down and make sure everyone is vaccinated so they get very mild disease and I think we really just need to push hell for leather for those two.”
That would appear to contradict the plan that they are going for, as there is no way they are going to be keeping rates down.
I also hear that vaccine take up by younger people is poor, a pitfall other nations have had but we have fortunately avoided until now. I haven’t seen the numbers behind that, so not sure to what extent this is the case, but certainly isn’t going to help matters.
To mine too. This seems to be the biggest worry at the moment and that is something that could have a massive impact on everybody’s recovery from this, not just the UK. Seriously playing with fire on this one in a way that boggles the mind, particularly considering the position the UK is in at the moment where you would think they really wouldn’t want to piss off other nations more than they already have!
