Well, just to, probably, finish off my end of this thread:
I got some Lindy Premium Hi-Fi, also known as Lindy HF-100, I think, and also sold under the Brainwavz, Digitech, Jaycar, Pro-Monitor, etc. brands. They’re either rebrands or clones of Fischer 003 (apparently, the only difference is that the pads are of some slightly lesser material than on the Fischer 003).
They were sold out in about a day, so it seems like people are looking for them. I gave what amounts to 40 GBP for mine, but there are people who’ve gotten them for around 25 GBP from Australia, if only because they got lucky and customs didn’t check the packages (it also seems like the Australian site has been closed). Normal price seems to be around 70 GBP.
They’re closed, around-ear, with detachable cables and come with a rather huge carrying case, a set of extra pads, a pretty solid seeming 3m cable (it should also be possible to buy 1.2m cables for them) and a 6.3mm adapter. Quality seems rather good overall, especially at the price.
The pads are more than large enough for my ears, which was a severe relief. They’re very tight (you’re kind of getting that eye-popping feeling after some hours), but that should get better. Isolation seems rather good as a result of the tightness and the pads; I got a bit caught up in listening to music, so my food boiled dry and I couldn’t hear it like I usually can (I could eventually smell it, though…).
They’re far too new to judge how they’ll eventually sound, but so far I can hear more tones and nuances than I’m used to with my Sony, so that seems good too. Bass seems much more defined than I’m used to and still has punch.
I’ve only played some Halo so far, but that seemed fine (and again, I could hear more tones). Halo probably doesn’t have the most advanced directional sound, so I don’t really have a good idea of how they handle it, though.
So, for now, it seems like this was a clever buy.
Edit: I forgot: There is a slight downside to them and that is that they have two cables, one from each phone, but it seems like the cables are too thick to get easily tangled, so I don’t think it’ll be much of an annoyance.
