Speaking of Epic, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition is now free, and I think that TW: Troy Amazons DLC is currently free too. *

Next week is Pikuniku, which I think I already got free in the Itch bundle, but haven’t actually played yet. Heard it’s good.

*There turns out to be some small print for the Amazons DLC:

“The Amazons DLC is available on the Epic Games Store right now, priced at £8/€10/$10. To get it free, you need to sign up for Total War Access and link that to your Epic account, then it’ll give you a code to wham into Epic. You have until October 8th to claim a code, then must use that before November 5th or it’ll expire.”

Leaving Lyndow is 60 % down for 1,59 €: Very short first person game about leaving home for a journey.

The Slater off 80 % for 2,79 €: It’s a low-budget simplified Hitman-clone. Looks quite nice though. Reviews I’ve seen are fairly positive.

Scrap Garden is a 3d indie platformer that’s free on Steam. Not sure if it’s good, but it looks ok.

Thanks. Looking it up, I came across its pre-/sequel (?) Scrap Garden - The Day Before, also free.

And I see now it’s by the same Alexey Davydov of Flazm publishers who did Train Valley 1 + 2, certainly nice puzzlers (well, #1 I can speak for).

Ah, and this is set in the Eastshade universe, for fans (and so by Eastshade Studios, to be sure). Which probably not incidentally is currently half-price, at €10,49.

Thanks to Sin Vega over at RPS, who points out that They Came From a Communist Planet is currently (or forever?) free at Steam.

Edit: Turns out the game is also free (or name your own price) over at itch.io, as seem to be a number of other games by the dev(s), some of them browser games.

Edit #2: As is also their game A Bewitching Revolution, I saw later, both at Steam and at itch.io.

The missus here has long been a diehard fan of the Delicious game series (usually subtitled “Emily’s something something”).

I’ve also heard good things about Treasure of Montezuma and Cradle, as well as 4 Elements I and II.

Amnesia - A machine for Pigs and Kingdom: New Lands (repeat) are now free on Epic.

Next week is Layers of Fear 2 and Costume Quest 2.

(Also, you can get 80% off the new _Observer remaster if you own the original… which they gave away free so you may)

Sega is giving away a bunch of demakes or mashup games over the next few days, the first - Armor of Heroes seems to be a top down tank game with Company of Heroes assets - is now free to grab/keep. (They list as Free 2 Play, but afaik you need to grab them during a limited period. Who knows. )

Also, 40k Mechanicus is having a free weekend and an (almost) all time low price.

Also on offer is Company of Heroes 2 at a mere €1,–; mind you, that may well entice you to get the full game with all its DLC: Company of Heroes 2 Master Collection, which at 92% off will still set you back €8,29. (Still a pretty good deal I reckon, the DLC let alone all of it in one go is rarely very cheap, and while not all of it has been equally well received, I guess instead of spending half an academic career on figuring out which is which you may as well just want to get the full package & be done with it already.)

Also also, for owners of Total War: Shogun 2 there is a free addition of Total War: Shogun 2 - Battle of Kawagoe, apparently a battle map “originally only available as a pre-order bonus” DLC, I guess indefinitely (“now free for everyone”).

Manifold Garden is 20% off on steam, its just launched after being on Epic. Its a mind bending, gorgeous puzzle game. Its an Escher-esque world where you flip gravity to solve the puzzles.

Costume Quest 2 and Layers of Fear 2 are now free on Epic.
Not super exciting, but nice to have. CQ2 might be good to play with my kids, depending on what the RPG mechanics are like.

Next week is Blair Witch and Ghostbusters… which could be interesting. They’re both the kind of games that I wouldn’t probably buy, but might be nice to get for free.
(Although, weirdly, I was kinda hoping it was the old 2000 blair witch spinoff game (Rustin Parr) as that always sounded really weird. I expect the new one is better, but the old one sounded intriguing)

They also have a Halloween sale. I don’t know for sure if the old Epic Vouchers are still valid, but if they are then it might be a chance to grab Dead Cells pretty cheap. (though it might be on one of the game pass thingies too).

There is a Daedalic-sale on gog. Just pointing it out since some good point-and-clicks are quite cheap right now. The Night of the Rabbit didn’t always work for me, but I still liked it overall and I rather enjoyed Chains of Satinav. I haven’t had time for Memoria so far, but I have only heard good things about it. Each one of these for just 1,99 €.

Personally I wouldn’t recommend The Whispered World though. In tone it’s similar to TNotR, but overall it just seemed less engaging to me. Something about the story, characters, presentation… A mix of things I think.

Oh and FAR - Lone Sails for just 3,74 € as well.

I have an Epic coupon (10 off anything 15 and up) which expires on 1 Nov, so just an FYI in case you have too.
