The whole £10 off is better than the free games, imo.
The £10 coupon gives us Satisfactory for £14, Hades for £5, Borderlands 3 for £22, Metro Exodus for £7.50, New Subnautica/Untitled Goose for <£6, Manifold Garden for £4. These are so much better deals than anything I’ve seen on Steam (sure, it has some steep discounts, but very few that set new price lows by any meaningful amount).
I know Epic are just showering us in money, but I can’t help but compare them favourably to Valve’s shitty ‘points’ game where - when you eventually spend £38 - you’re rewarded with a £3.80 token so you can spend more money. For about that much money I could have bought everything on my list save B3, and saved £60 on pretty damn new titles courtesy of EG.
Valve’s insistence to have us do ‘tasks’ for points, where there are new tasks daily or - like in the races where a maximum goes up with an amount you spend - just feels like MMO MTX/economy bullshittery and a slap in the face.
/end Valve rant
I will always buy from wherever is cheapest, and where the price is roughly the same, then the place that gives developers the largest percentage cut - regardless of Epic or Valve’s various twatiness.
