Apologies for posting somewhat sporadically here, going to try to give you all a few updates. (BTW I’m Mark and it’s my fault if there are problems with this forum, as I’m the person who deployed it.)
I’ve installed a couple of additional plugins which should give you proper spoiler tags and colours/sizing using bbcode (though why you would do that I do not know, this isn’t ceefax ). In order to apply these to old posts they need to be ‘rebaked’ - a process which takes some time and which I’ll kick off a bit later.
Graham has asked me to switch the default scheme to the light theme. We’re also going to make a custom theme to match the main site a bit more closely, though that could do with a bit of tightening up first.
There are some nice theme examples on the Discourse meta: https://meta.discourse.org/c/plugin/theme - if there are any in particular people like then perhaps we could do a poll to pick a starting point.
Some have complained about the width of the forum - I’m of the opinion that it gives a comfortable line length for reading so am inclined not to mess with it.
The search engine only indexes 100,000 posts by default and this forum have over 700,000. This is why some stuff just isn’t showing up. I’ve upped the limit and will check tomorrow on progress (it will have to re-index all these old posts).
There are some problems that have been the result of porting the old forum data from vbull and we are trying to correct what we can. In particular old spam does seem to have re-appeared and old links to post and threads do not work. There are solutions for both but they are quite involved and I don’t know when we’ll have that work finished. Hopefully those things won’t impact your day-to-day use of the forum too much.
Finally, the broken preview is a bloody pain, and it appears to be a problem with how we’re doing HTTPS, which one or two other installations seem to suffer from. Should be quite fixable.
I think that’s it for now!
