I’ve been stepping away from DS3 for a bit, but like in DS1 and very much unlike DS2 I still feel myself strongly drawn to the game and its locations, enemies, and lore.
I’ve in the meantime watched playthroughs of the game which should help with my greatest trepidation when playing these games - the fear of the unknown. Exploring unknown areas in games always puts me on edge, slowly progressing through a dungeon, save scumming along the way (which is not really an option in DS games). In Dark Souls a new area fills me with serious anxiety which causes me to step away frequently.
This will continue, even knowing what’s coming, but I want to see the journey through to its end.
I will start a new character, aiming for a STR/FTH build this time, though this might well change during play. And instead of focusing on the forward movement, I plan to take more time to really get familiar with the environments, enemies, and handling them. Kind of what I did in DS1. In DS3 so far I was (after Undead Settlement) mostly focused on “OMG, please don’t kill me and let me out of here” instead of trying to properly best an area before moving on.
